Registration

For youth who are 18 or older and ready to register to vote.

Registration is simple: just go to the California Secretary of State's portal and follow the steps!

To vote in California you must:

​​

  • Be a resident of California

  • Be a United States citizen

  • Be at least 18 years old on or before Election Day

  • Not be found mentally incompetent to vote by a court​

  • Not be currently serving a state or federal prison term for a felony conviction

Pre-Registration

California residents aged 16 and 17 can pre-register to vote, so they're automatically registered when they turn 18.

How to Pre-Register

  • At least 16 years old
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Resident of California
  • Meet all other voting requirements
  1. Visit the California Secretary of State's portal
  2. Select "Pre-Register to Vote" and follow the steps
  3. Turn 18 and vote!
